Tanker and Engine Assist Station 45 (Clayton) with Working Barn Fire

IN THE EVENING HOURS OF THE ABOVE DATE, STATION 51 WAS DISPATCHED TO ASSIST STATION 45 (CLAYTON) WITH A WORKING BARN FIRE IN THE 900 BLOCK OF BLACKISTON CHURCH RD. COMMAND 45 WENT ON LOCATION WITH A 40’ X 120’ MECHANIC SHOP WITH HEAVY FIRE SHOWING. COMMAND 51, TANKER 51-5 AND 51-2 MADE THE INITIAL RESPONSE. COMMAND 51 ASSUMED ACCOUNTABILITY ON ARRIVAL, THIS IS A CRITICAL SAFETY ROLE WITHIN THE FIRE SCENE HIERARCHY, AS WHOEVER IS IN COMMAND OF THIS ROLE, KEEPS TRACK OF APPARATUS AND PERSONNEL ON SCENE AND WHERE EACH CREW IS OPERATING. ON ARRIVAL, TANKER 51-5 ASSUMED WATER SUPPLY, YET ANOTHER CRITICAL ROLE WITHIN THE FIRE SCENE HIERARCHY, AS THIS ROLE REQUIRES THE COORDINATION BETWEEN MULTIPLE TANKERS TO KEEP A CONSTANT WATER SUPPLY AVAILABLE FOR SUPPRESSION OPERATIONS. MOMENTS AFTER ARRIVAL OF TANKER 51-5, 51-2 ARRIVED AND ASSISTED WITH FIRE SUPPRESSION, OVERHAUL, AND MANPOWER. THE FIRE WAS BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL IN JUST OVER AN HOUR.
